With almost 100,000 miles of coastline, it’s no wonder we love packing up and heading to the beach during the summer. The relaxing horizon line, the sand between our toes, and no schedule makes it easy to forget our workday stresses. One of the most iconic hot spots for the affluent to get away is the Hamptons, containing some of the most expensive and luxurious properties in the United States. Featured in films, television shows, magazines and other media, the Hamptons has been a symbol of “living the dream” since the late 19th century. What we here at LUSH love most about this Eden is the incredible architectural and interior design it has to offer! We know that spending the summer in the Hamptons isn’t an option for most, but who says you can’t bring the Hamptons’ style into your home? We’re sharing some tips to create an outdoor space that reflects this signature style of laid back sophistication.
We are an affiliate of some of the products we’ve listed here and have had great experiences with products from these companies. We hope you will, too!
When in doubt, go with white. White on white on white always works. Slip-covered sofas and chairs in whites and off white are light, bright, and a neutral ground to place colorful pillows on. White outdoor cushions make a great contrast on woven furniture.
Janus et Cie – Arbor Club Chair (Available through your designer)
If you’re looking to add some pattern, stripes are a must! Royal blue and white; red and white; or crisp black and white stripes all make for a clean and easy pattern to use for any outdoor space.
CB2 – Tropez Sofa $1129
Pier1 – Dover Cherry Pillow $35
Bring in natural materials. Teak wood, seagrass, jute, or sisal rugs over bleached wood floors help to layer on the texture.
Terrain – Protected Teak Trestle Dining Table $3298
Surya – Julia $40-890 (Available through various retailers or your designer)
Jaipur Living – Naturals Sanibel Plus $57-945 (Available through your designer)
Keep it textured. Natural or synthetic, woven surfaces always add the right amount of variation to stained or painted porch boards and grass. We also love the manufactured texture of smooth, black metal crafted into a sturdy chair that supports us in the afternoon as we sit with an iced tea.
Frontgate – Madison Seating $1,495-5,985
Brown Jordan – Southampton price varies (Available through your designer)
Janus et Cie – Amalfi Barstool (Available through your designer)
Crate & Barrel – Koen Grid Sky Blue Indoor-Outdoor Rug $30-300
Janus et Cie – Deauville Chaise Lounge (Available through your designer)
If that isn’t enough for you, join us over on Pinterest to see what other styles we’re loving this summer!
