Today I am proud to share some before and after images of our new website!
After eight years of the same website I designed, I decided it was time for a change. A big one! Last year we hired Bella Maven to rebrand with a new logo, a gorgeous icon, new colors, and new branding guidelines. You might remember our post here. It’s been fun pulling all those elements through everything across our brand! We got on Bella Maven’s wait list (because the best IS worth waiting for) to take us to the finish line with a completely re-designed website. I think you will love it!
Who doesn’t like seeing a before and after – no matter what it is? From a haircut to a remodel, I’m in! I love seeing transformations and great results. Today I’m going to share my bootstrapped DIY website (the BEFORE) as well as my professionally designed website (the AFTER).
Starting out in business with no capital behind you, and an actual need to be profitable, it can be a challenge to get exactly what you’re looking for on a budget. So to save a bit of cash, you end up doing it yourself. While I don’t condone DIY-ing a lot of things, I was able to use my previous experience in graphic design to create a website using a Squarespace template. It wasn’t bad. In fact, I continued to get compliments on it until the day before we launched! While I didn’t dislike my old website, it no longer fit the overall look and feel of the brand. Just like with a kitchen or bath remodel, things can function just fine, but who wants “fine,” when updated, new, and gorgeous is better?
This is exactly where hiring a professional website designer came in with the very best ideas for our brand. Bella Maven’s team mocked up their ideas for approval (just like we do with your projects!), and then moved into really developing the designs for each page on the new website. Check out the before & after pictures below!
This page was meant to be clean and simple from the start. In 2020, we addressed new COVID protocols.
Overall, the navigation has been simplified so you can hop to exactly the page you’re looking for. Links for booking a discovery call, a virtual consultation, or to inquire about hiring us, are right at the top. As you enter the site, you see a gorgeous new cinematic video. This really elevates things from the static images we had. The design uses nice graphics, our icon, and scrolls nicely through pretty images. If you want to know your #lushstyle, we added a 2-minute style quiz on every page. You also get signed you up for our newsletter for free design insight direct to your inbox with the Lush Lifestyle Update (our infrequent newsletter), then give that a whirl.
In addition to distilling our collection of services down to our most sought after signature service – full-service interior design, we added a convenient link right in the navigation bar for those that want to meet with us online for a 25-minute or 55-minute virtual consultation.
There’s also a brand new name and look to the Lush Interior Design blog, The Lush Edit.
You may have also noticed we have a “SHOP” page that is brand new. I never thought I’d have a store. After a lot of thought, I decided I wanted to be able to offer you my absolute favorite items out there on the market. The online shop is still under construction. It’s a little more complex to bring to life, but I cannot tell you how excited I am to get this live for you. You’ll be able to shop online from our carefully edited collection: everything from dining to bedroom to lighting and outdoor! This means you can craft and create your own dream space instantly! Stay tuned for this launch!
And I want to give a little special attention to this gorgeous new footer. Ours has additional contact information, as well as links to all of our social accounts. You’re following us, aren’t you?
We’ve also added an interactive FAQs area. We find we get asked the same questions by clients, so we wanted to answer them in one place!
I hope you enjoyed seeing a few snippets on the new website. If you want to see the rest of the new website in all it’s glory, you will have to go and check it out!
