How are we feeling so far? A bit of progress toward a petite jewel box powder room? Last week I shared the idea and overall scope of work for our One Room Challenge “builder’s grade upgrade” powder room project, and this week, we’re going to keep it short and sweet with my sister’s design decision! If you missed last week’s post or any future weeks, you can check it out using the previous week’s link above. I hope you were able to hop on over to the ORC website to see what other designers are doing too! The new week’s progress will be up every Thursday.
Deliberations
She really liked all of the options I provided, so that on a whole is a huge win! I love to be able to provide exactly what is in my client’s head, even if it’s something they didn’t totally know how to describe for frame. As you saw in last week’s post, our brainstorming started on Pinterest. For any room you’re thinking about, I always recommend pulling a ton of images for all elements and then narrowing down to common themes or repetitive elements in order to begin visualizing those ideas in your space.
So first she liked the second Option A, so A1, then possibly the pretty birds in Option C, but also loved the navy blue vanity in Option B. It’s tough when every option is good, isn’t it?
The Decision
Are you ready? Drumroll please!
OPTION B!
What do you think? Do you like the classic and feminine wallpaper and bold gold fixtures, marble countertop and grounded navy vanity? I love this option and know it will look incredible installed in this space!
I’m currently B.T.S. (behind the scenes) finishing up all of the drawings necessary for construction, working on budgeting, availability and getting demolition scheduled. Can’t wait to see how this space comes together!
Don’t forget to see what other designers’ projects are looking like as we move through the process together. Check out the link to the main ORC page where you can go see more designers and their work every Thursday.

One Room Challenge | Week 2 | The Plan

The lowly powder room can often be overlooked, but because it’s such a small room, it’s really a great opportunity to glam it up or go a little wild on budget here since the volume of materials isn’t that high. Also, just about every guest that visits you will likely make a stop inside. You might as well make it worth it, eh?

The start of 2020 was much like many years, but it was a little different for me because I would be planning our wedding in less than ninety days. We were very excited we nailed down our venue on December 31st, so I knew I’d be hitting the ground running with planning. I took off planning this special event just like I do design projects for my clients.
